"Having stayed in quite a few cottages, I have never had one that actually had EVERYTHING we needed for our stay. But in Bruce Cottage this is what we got! A very well equipped cottage, great views, a very friendly pheasant and amazing bedside lamps. What more could you ask for? Thank you!" David, Siobhan & Sophia. |

"Oh, what a lovely place this is! Bruce cottage is a gem. We've had some walks, some food, some wine... We think we'll come again!" David, Sue, Hils & Geoff. |

“We have had the most delightful week in Bruce Cottage - which I believe has as beautiful a view as any in England. The house is charming, warm and comfortable - so splendidly equipped!”
"This is one of those places where you feel instantly at home with everything you need! We had a great time here. Even the weather was fantastic. We loved the walks along the river, both towards Pateley Bridge and towards Gouthwaite Reservoir, Not taxing, but beautiful."
“This is a superb cottage in a wonderful area. There are many great walks in the area and the Bronte's house, Fountains Abbey and York are all within an hour's drive. This is a place we would definitely come back to.”
“This is probably the nicest cottage we've ever stayed in ... and we should know, Lord, we've stayed in a few (to mis-quote Monty Python's Life of Brian). Everything about it is of the highest quality. The views of course are fabulous. We hope to come back one day - maybe in the Winter time.”
“All round - absolutely fabulous!”
“We have had a lovely relaxing week, the cottage was really nice and well equipped.”
“In 2003 this week (7 Aug) was the hottest of the year; for 2004 it must surely be in the running for the wettest. The walks have been rather soggy but 'atmospheric' in a boiling cloud kind of way. We have really appreciated coming back to such a lovely cottage and, when the clouds lifted in the evenings, the views have been magnificent. Brimham Rocks, Fountains Abbey and Ripon are a lovely trio to visit. Bruce Cottage is a real find and we certainly intend to return. Thank you.”
“Top quality cottage in a top quality area. From the moment we were greeted to the moment we left, this felt like home from home.”
“A lovely cottage. We have enjoyed our short stay and intend to return. Fantastic, thank you.”
“Pretty amazing week; fantastic weather (4 Sep). See if you can spot the pheasants in the garden in the morning and late afternoon. Try the Yorke Arms at Ramsgill if you want to blow a hole in your taste buds and your wallet.”
“Enjoyed our stay very much indeed, weather not too bad. Had some lovely walks around the hills and dales, fantastic views. Very nice cottage, could live here! We shall be back.”
“First came to this area 40 years ago staying up at Heathfield with the Boys' Brigade!! It's still magical - when we arrived there was a dusting of snow on the tops making the view from the cottage even more spectacular, and if it's views you want - drive (or cycle, especially if you've had lunch at Barbara's Tea Rooms in Pateley!) up to Middlesmoor, walk through the cobbled street to the churchyard and look back down to Gouthwaite Reservoir. You'll understand why we live just an hour away! The cottage itself is the best we've stayed in - from Cornwall to Northumberland, we won't tell the kids - it'll be our secret! A perfect weekend.”
“Definitely the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. Warm and welcoming from the minute we stepped through the door, and the quality of fittings speaks for itself. Lovely walks along the top of the sheep field (past Bruce's Barn), and along the River Nidd to Glasshouses. Good food at Olleys in Pateley Bridge. Thank you Michael & Helen, we will return.”
