As an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Nidderdale has more than its fair share of breathtaking views and stunning scenery, including sights over both moor and farmland of Yorkshire. This special blend of beauty has appealed to artists and filmmakers alike, and Nidderdale scenery has featured in such films as ‘Wuthering Heights’ and ‘Fairy Tale - A True Story’.
The waters of Gouthwaite Reservoir have drawn birdwatchers to its shores for many years to see waders, gulls and migratory birds passing through. There have been sightings of Ospreys, Goshawk and Buzzards.
Pateley Bridge
The attractive town of Pateley Bridge offers a variety of specialist shops, including an excellent bakery and butchers, as well as tea rooms and the oldest sweet shop in Britain! The Nidderdale museum is situated near the centre, and Pateley has its own playhouse: the ‘Little Theatre of the Dales’.
For horse riders the Bewerley Riding Centre is only two miles away and there are many peaceful bridleways in Nidderdale.
There are many sights in the area that are definitely worth seeing during your stay.
